Have you ever wanted to know what the differences were between a Business Objects Universe in 2 different environments? I am guessing you are thinking, yes, every other day!
You, or another person on your team, may have documented what was changed in your Change Management System, but it was at a high-level (or incomplete). There are no details that specifically describe which objects were updated, added or deleted. Maybe a developer made a change and is now out on vacation, or left the organization. Reports pointing to a specific Universe are no longer working and you don’t know where to start…
360Plus can provide you details about the differences, highlighting the classes and objects that were updated, added or deleted, using different colors. An example is shown below:
The graphic above displays the contents of a universe in 2 different environments. You will see the objects that were added to the universe on the left appear in blue font, any deleted objects would appear in red font. This information can also be exported to excel. An added bonus is that you can use the information that is exported to excel to document the changes you made to a Universe. Attach the excel file to your change management system and it is available to anyone who wants that information. Takes the guess work out of what was changed.
There are other times you may want to compare Universes, between versions, this can also be done with 360Plus. Just click the compare icon for the version you want to compare.
This same comparison can be done for Backups as well, providing you the ability to compare the current version of a Universe in the CMS with a previous backup.
We are still not done, in addition to the comparison features available in 360Plus, you can also use 360Eyes to compare Universes across environments and/or versions. 360Eyes a tool in the 360Suite that provides metadata about your Business Objects environment. The report below will show you what objects have been added, modified and deleted in your Universe. This can be useful when comparing Universes after a BOBJ upgrade or migration.
This same comparison can be done for Backups as well, providing you the ability to compare the current version of a Universe in the CMS with a previous backup.
