Harley-Davidson Saved More
Than $1 Million with 360Suite

Harley-Davidson invested in 360Suite to enhance Business Objects, and received a tremendous return on investment in the areas of regression testing, user management, decommissioning, and scheduling. 360Suite solutions saved Harley-Davidson more than $1 million on consulting services and administrative costs.
Like hundreds of other clients, Harley-Davidson discovered that 360Suite makes it easier, faster, safer, and cheaper to maximize the power of Business Objects.
Regression Testing
When Harley-Davidson upgraded from XI3.1 to BI4.1, it took 14 consultants two months to perform regression testing. When Harley-Davidson upgraded from BI4.1 to BI4.2 with 360Bind, it took two consultants only one month to perform regression testing, including the time to set up 360Bind.
Based on the average hourly cost of their consultants, Harley-Davidson saved $520,000 on regression testing during the upgrade to BI4.2 with 360Bind. Future testing should cost even less. Not only did 360Bind help Harley-Davidson perform regression testing cheaper, it also helped them do it better. That’s because 360Bind detects 100% of regressions in all reports, mitigating the risks associated with upgrades.
User Management
Before adopting 360Suite, Harley-Davidson had little to no insight into their 10,000 Business Objects users, because the Windows Active Directory (AD) data was incomplete (user IDs only). With 360View, one Harley-Davidson employee was able to match names and emails to the user IDs for full visibility. This gave BI administrators the power to analyze users and communicate with them directly.
Decommissioning
Harley-Davidson was reluctant to decommission XI3.1 because they didn’t fully understand how the platform was being used. Internal estimates suggested it would take two consultants six weeks to analyze the metadata and structure of universes/reports.
With 360Eyes, one Harley-Davidson employee developed a plan in five days to retire XI3.1, identifying what was in use and should be migrated, and what was no longer in use and should be deleted/archived before upgrading Business Objects. Based on estimated versus actual costs, 360Eyes saved Harley-Davidson $60,000.
Scheduling
In the past, Harley-Davidson required all scheduling to be done in Control-M and spent $750k on associated resources in 2016. Not only was this approach expensive, but it created a disconnect between the BI team and other scheduling departments. 360Cast returned control of BI scheduling to the Harley-Davidson BI team, at a cost savings of more than 80%.
