Wiiisdom’s ESG Journey

The beginning of ESG at Wiiisdom

On behalf of everyone at Wiiisdom, I’m thrilled to announce that Wiiisdom has an approved near-term science-based emissions reduction target by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)! This is just the start of our journey toward our commitment to building a sustainable future. Let’s take a step back to explain how we got here and our vision for the future.

The concept of ESG at Wiiisdom was inspired by our passionate ESG-focused customers who were already committed to an ESG strategy and were looking for suppliers who had the same commitment. Additionally, our investors at ISATIS had an obligation to report on the ESG strategies of the companies they work with. In reality, this alignment with ESG principles was not just a strategic move; it resonated deeply with our existing beliefs about what constitutes excellence for our business, our customers, our dedicated employees, and the environment. Embracing ESG was a natural evolution rooted in our commitment to responsible corporate citizenship.

Laying the Foundations for ESG

Implementing sustainable practices is a never-ending process and requires constant auditing. We started with reviewing important internal policies, such as our Code of Business Conduct, and from there, we revised and adapted other policies that reflect our commitment to a sustainable way of doing business.

We strongly believe that everyone should take action to achieve the 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. It was at this point that we decided to partner with Greenly to refine our strategy. We chose Greenly because it provides a platform to better organize the data in order to measure our emissions and thus suggest actions. They helped us measure our first carbon footprint for 2022 and are currently assisting us in developing a roadmap to raise awareness among our employees, customers, and the community.

When we started, the Greenly benchmark positioned us twice as more ESG-compliant than other comparable companies in our sector, which further confirmed the commitment from the company as a whole.

After measuring our emissions, the next step was to have our near-term target strategy approved by SBTi, which, as mentioned above, was validated just recently! We decided to choose this initiative because it is a partnership between some of the biggest bodies in climate change action (United Nations Global Compact, CDP, WRI, and WWF). We wanted to confirm that our targets for emission reductions are aligned with the Agenda 2030 and have their support in applying best practices to reach our objectives. Our targets are in line with the 2015 UN Paris Agreement goal of limiting global warming to well above 2°C, and preferably 1.5°C. Our validated SBTs in terms of absolute emissions reductions are as follows:

  • Reduce scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions, those controlled or owned by Wiiisdom, by 42% by 2030 from a 2022 base year.
  • Measure and reduce the Scope 3 GHG emissions (those not produced by the company).

“What is SBTi?

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) defines and promotes best practices in science-based target setting and independently assesses companies’ targets. Science-based targets provide companies a clearly-defined roadmap to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, safeguarding against the impacts of climate change and fortifying sustainable business expansion.”

Our CEO’s Perspective

“2022/2023 was from a Wiiisdom perspective the ESG year. For the very first time, we saw a trend to move forward with ESG; not only us but our suppliers, our customers, and also our investors and all around the globe. A collective effort that we all know will have a great impact. A kind of planet alignment. We are all very excited about the work we have started on it, of course, it could have been a focus for us even before 2022, but in any case, ESG is here to stay and it’s a great thing for us, and future generations.” Sébastien Goiffon, CEO at Wiiisdom.

This is just the beginning…

ESG is an evolving strategy that involves a continuous cycle of measuring, taking action, communicating, and improving, and then starting the process all over again. We are committed to reducing our impact on the environment while making a positive contribution to society. Our commitment to ESG goes beyond just meeting the expectations of our clients and investors. Incorporating ESG principles into our business is essential for the long-term success of our company, as well as contributing to a better future for our communities and the planet.
